Okay folks, there is no such thing as renewable energy and to somehow think there is, does more harm than good. Global warming is caused by carbon dioxide released into the atmosphere. Doesn't matter if the carbon dioxide come from farting or ethanol. Now believe it or not if you wait long enough in time there will be more coal. Yup, unlike the belief of many people, coal, natural gas, oil, etc. will be reformed. Oh it may take a few tens of thousands of years or perhaps a few hundred of thousands of years, but it will "renew." I place renew in quotes, because there is no such thing. It's like saying people renew when they are born. Yeah, right.

So the problem is not one that can be solved by burning trees or sugar cane or what have you instead of coal. The problem is with carbon dioxide production that is not quickly reabsorbed into plants that can be reused. A classic case of this is envy of Brazil for using ethanol. Over looked by most is that cutting down tropical rain forests to grow sugar cane that can be turned into ethanol does more harm than good. Less carbon dioxide is absorbed by sugar cane than by rain forests. So Brazil is making the problem worse by turning to "renewable" energy than if Brazilians had stuck to oil. Gee willikers "renewable" energy can cause global warming. Don't ya just love it.

There are two ways to deal with global warming. One is to remove much more carbon dioxide from the atmosphere and the other is stop producing so much carbon dioxide in the first place. Both are needed and we need to implement both immediately while while doing research to develop inexpensive carbon dioxide reduced energy and improved ways to remove carbon dioxide from the atmosphere. This plant a tree if you use natural gas bull shit is bull shit.

There are two great ways to improve removing carbon dioxide from the atmosphere. One is to stop cutting down tropical rain forests and the second is to start recovering tropical rain forests. Wouldn't life be wonderful if the Sahara Desert could be turned back into tropical rain forest. Yup during the Neolithic period the Sahara desert was a lush agricultural home to the Nubians. The Sahara did not become a desert until around 3000 BC. Just like rain forests can be destroyed, we can also create rain forests and absorb more carbon dioxide. Of course that will mean, ya don't cut down trees for burning or to produce crops.

There are several ways to reduce carbon dioxide production. One is to turn electric. Electric cars produce less carbon dioxide, even if coal fired plants are used to produce the electricity. That is a simple fact of life. Next, let's all move close together. Build apartments where ya cannot hear your neighbors. Live within walking distance of everything. Use mass transit. And on and on and on.

Of course we should look at using wind power, hydroelectric power, solar power, heat in earth's mantle, nuclear, (either fission or fusion), and on and on. Of course we need to make these energy sources safer and less likely to fail. But all can be used. All can be improved.

Just to be clear, there is no such thing as "renewable" energy. All our energy either comes/came from the sun or from the earth's core/mantle/... Over a very long time, hopefully millions of years, the sun will cease to exist. Then the earth will become very cold.

So cut the renewable energy crap and get on with the program of reducing the amount of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere, both by not producing as much and by improving carbon dioxide capture techniques. Carbon dioxide is the issue. Renewable energy is a myth. The harm is that by focusing on the myth, we are not solving the problem and all humanity will cease in a few hundred years or much less.
