We spend a lot of time looking at the things in the Washington Post, NY Times, LA Times, and USA Today.
Most of the voters in crucial swing states, however, get a subscription to local papers for sports and news about their high schools. This diary looks at what the local papers are reporting in a few swing states. Please feel free to add others in the comments.
Iowa:
The big news, according to the DM Register, is that Tom Harkin was allegedly dumped from a trip to WI because he called Chen*y a "coward." You, Tom! Pro-Kerry coverage looks non-existent today.
West Virginia:
Democrats suing to keep a late filing Republican candidate off the ballot for county commissioner. They are covering Iraq, though.
Ohio:
Nothing in today's Cleveland Plain Dealer. But Sunday has a tasty editorial.
Arkansas:
"Bush: Ads on Kerry 'Bad for the System'; [smaller type] Democrats: Remarks too little, too late"
Florida:
Miami Herald runs a nice article by Dana Milbank. Unfortunately, the web poll is about whether 527s should be allowed to run ads, suggesting that the editors just don't get it. Other news here.
Conclusion: A lot of local editors really aren't interested in politics, without a "local connection." Please add other local news in the comments.
