Or so says the The House Committee on Resources Earth Day website.
Thanks to Raw Story for this information.
The Earth day website lauds the environmental successes of America while warning us that "the environmental movement in the U.S. has truly lost its way".
To convince us of this, The Big Business link lists revenue, assets and CEO pay of several environmental organizations calling Earth Day "Pay Day for some." With the TOTAL CEO pay listed as a whopping $2,264,452 for 11 organizations, accusing environmental CEOs of using "high rise offices, ritzy hotels and martinis," seems a bit far-fetched.
Hell, Kiernan Suckling at the Center for Biological Diversity only makes $52,240, and Tucson only has 5 high rise buildings. I'm pretty sure he's not in one of them.
The myth-info link also sets to dispell eco-myths, telling us that:
"...Our air quality ...is getting better all the time," and
"We have plenty of freshwater, the issue is access to it."
and of course,
"Oil is the lifeblood of the American Economy."
Anyway, just wanted you to know that your tax dollars are at work demeaning environmentalists.
If I didn't know better, I'd think I was reading the Onion.
Oh forgot to mention Richard Pombo is the chairman of the House Resources committee.
