Two-term Congressman
Jim Gerlach (R-PA6) is probably one of the most endangered incumbents in the country. His Philly-burb district was supposedly drawn for him, but has gone Democratic in the last two elections, and he has barely squeaked by in his two campaigns.
You'd think he'd be the last guy seen within half a county of Karl Rove, right? Wrong, based on what happened Tuesday.
Protesters carrying American flags and toilet plungers yelled "Fire Karl Rove" and "Stop the leaks" outside a fund-raiser where President Bush's senior adviser was the guest of honor.

The fundraiser was for Rep. Jim Gerlach, R-Pa., who barely defeated Democratic attorney Lois Murphy in 2004 to win his second term in the district, which is made up of parts of Berks, Chester, Montgomery and Lehigh counties in southeastern Pennsylvania. He won by 2 percentage points, despite raising $2.3 million and spending $2.1 million on the race.
Good grief--the campaign ads practically write themselves. And Gerlach is supposedly a typical moderate Repub from the Philly burbs.
Murphy is running again--and called for Gerlach to cancel the fundraiser. But the Gerlach campaign says it would have sent "the wrong message" to cancel the fundraiser.
Once again--the campaign ads practically write themselves. You'd think the last thing a Repub congressman representing a blue district would want to do was be anywhere near Rove. Oh well ... is it too early to say hello to Congresswoman Lois Murphy?
