We have the right to mourn. Grieving is a healing process. I am in mourning. So is everyone I know. I don't want to turn on the TV, because I have an absolute and tangible fear of seeing an image of Bush or Cheney or Karl Rove. I scour the Internet for the latest important news, and still rage about the absence of truth on the airways.
We're seeing the burial of more than an election. We're seeing the burial of stories that were never told by the media. Did you know that on 11/1 the NY Times buried a story about the 3 wire bulges Bush had during the debates?. They didn't want to prejudice the election. Gag. Puke. Swift Boaters for a month on every program, in every paper. But not this.
We will now NEVER know who outed Valeria Plame or why Bush held back close to 100 pages of the briefing he got in August about an attack on the US. We will never know who attended the Cheney Energy Task force meetings. We will never know about the drills on the morning of 9/11, directed by Dick Cheney, - simulating attacks by planes on the WTC. I kid you not. It's alluded to in the Commission 'report' and delineated in Ruppert's "Crossing the Rubicon."
So much more. So much. The grief is real, because the death of the nation is real....but NOT THE DEATH OF THOSE WHO ARE WILLING TO CONTINUE THE FIGHT!" We're bruised, a bit battered, but alive.
Trust me on that.
Meantime, until the pain morphs into anger, I'll wear a symbol of resistance wherever I go. It will be a way to know who's with me out there, - and that will give me hope. It's a small thing, - literally and figuratively, but it sure beats moping into my morning coffee.
Wear a small BLACK ribbon. Take an old black shirt or an old sock and cut a ribbon shape. Safety pin it on. Anything. Just wear it. It'll be an elixir of sorts. Can't hurt. Could help.
Seeing someone with a pin would say: we're alive, we're together, we WILL NOT ACCEPT THIS PRESIDENT!
I need that.
If you're too lazy to make your own....like me...throw a buck in the donation plate of non profit web sites that have resistance ribbons. Here's one:
BACK RESISTANCE RIBBON
Mine will stay on until there is change in this country.
