Laura Bush Didn't Get the "Attack Teresa" Memo

I'll give Laura Bush some credit. She didn't try to jump on the Chris Matthews/Ben Ginsberg meme about Teresa's comments yesterday:

Laura Bush said Thursday that Teresa Heinz Kerry didn't need to apologize for saying she couldn't remember whether the first lady had ever had "a real job."

"She apologized but she didn't even really need to apologize," Mrs. Bush told reporters at a coffee shop before attending a rally for President Bush. "I know how tough it is and actually I know those trick questions."

Will this cause Matthews to pull a 180 and push Ginsberg around tonight about he and Hughes and all making a big stink about it yesterday? Don't count on it, but at least Laura Bush recognized that there wasn't a real story here.
