Sometimes the medium is indeed the message.
I don't know what was up with the audio quality of the President's speech - which just finished broadcasting - but the level of distortion in the signal was apposite to that in the content of the speech itself. To wit:
- The Iraqi Constitution is a shining beacon of liberty and freedom. If you've heard different, you're a commie nazi terrorist.
- There's bound to be disagreement. Car bombs are just a natural part of any democratic process.
- Terrorists are bad.
- The Consitution will be ratified in October. And if it isn't, it isn't my fault.
As I said, the audio quality was distinctly reminiscent of the transmissions of some Star Trek alien...coming to us lights years away from anything resembling reality.
