We are fucking insane lunatics around here. Would you all get real. Please!
Or let me restate this a bit more politely. Jerome a Paris, Pontificator, Armando, Maryscott O'Connor, Michael Alton Gottlieb, Kos--all the usual suspects, these people are stark raving mad. The American people, hey there seem to be more of them than us, do not give a shit. We can't all be correct. So we've got to be the crazy ones.
Let's get real. We ain't talking to the American people. Or if we are, they don't give a rat's ass, and I can prove it.
There was a coup in 2000. This really scares us, but the American people shrugged it off.
We have an energy crisis of staggering proportions. We know it's real, but the American people don't know and don't care. Okay, let me modify this just a bit. When gas hits $5.00 a gallon and people freeze this winter, they'll vote for any politican who'll say to them, "I feel your pain, I'll fix those energy prices."
We have 45 million uninsured Americans. We worry about this, we really do, but many Americans refuse to concede that staus quo must be changed.
We have a "president" who vowed to veto any bill authorizing federal financing of stem cell research. He got "re-elected". So I guess we're wacked out about this as well.
Hey, yesterday I read right here on this insane DailyKos, that the FDA might cave to the wingnuts and not approve a vaccine to prevent cervical cancer. Well this is what we "voted" for, isn't it?
Okay, Mr. Bush appears to be sinking in the polls. This is a very positive development. But I'd wager that if energy prices dropped (despite all the corruption, Delay, First, Rove, Libby, Iraq lies, etc.) Americans would breathe a sigh of relief, and you'd see a real nice uptick for the Commander in Chief. Mark my words, you crazy Kossacks.
The American people are dumb and getting dumber. They have been anesthetized into a state of semi-incoherence.
This is a very dangerous situation folks.
Allow me to end by relating two examples which further illustrate and prove my point.
I had a conversation yesterday with a young woman, a middle class citizen, by the way, from the great state of Texas. She and her family are facing daunting dental bills. She needs two dental implants which will cost somewhere between $10-$12,000. Her daughter was just diagnosed with 15 cavities. She figures her dental bills alone this year could run close to $20,000!
So in order to solve this crisis, this "thinking" American citizen will use the "flexidollars" in her husband's employer sponsored health savings account to pay for her implants. She will also take out some sort of loan and probably postpone college for her college age daughter until they pay off the 2005 dental expenses.
Well when I heard this story, I asked her if she thought this was an acceptable state of affairs, she looked at me dumbly and said, "well what do you want me to do about it?"
My own brother, okay fasten your seat belts, Harvard graduate(magna cum laude), when I attempt to lure him into a discussion of say, traitorgate, he demures saying, "I'm not good at pointing fingers!"
You bet! This disease of abject ignorance, willful denial, and a blind acceptance of the nightmare that our society has become, is spreading faster than avian flu.
Do you know, I would be locked up if I tried to explain to even some of my thinking friends the import of what Michael Alton Gottlieb graced us with yesterday.
So why don't we just call it a day and go home?
