Down here in Memphis, we are having a free for all congressional race for Harold Ford Jr's congressional seat. At one point we were up to 21 candidates. There are still a bunch, but it is boiling down to a handful of candidates. One of which is supported by Emily's List.
There are now 5 main candidates in the race, four are American American (one female) and one white, Jewish guy. The white Jewish guy is winning. The campaign has gotten pretty dirty and anti-semetic, but sort of what is to be expected in Memphis. The interesting thing that happened this week though was a mail out by the Emily's List candidate, Nikki Tinker. Now most everyone here in Memphis thinks Tinker is a sham, corporatist, DLC'er who's run a horrible campaign. One of her main talking points was saying she is endorsed by Emily's List. I'm sorry Emily's List got sucked into supporting Tinker, but they really stepped in it when they had a Tinker mail-out with stock photos trying to make it seem like Tinker cared about real Memphians. None of those pictures are of Memphians. What are we to think about Emily's List? You picked a fake candidate and then you sent out fake campaign literature. Why waste credibility on a candidate who is going to lose?
