There's not much new revealed in
the interview. Looks like Bush will continue to defend the war in Iraq by using the same spin points he has since the fall of 2002. He doesn't even acknowledge that the WMD reality on the ground in Iraq is different from the tall tales we were told by the Bushies.
There are some telling moments, though.
Bush: "Freedom is the Almighty's gift to everybody who lives in the world." Right. It's not like freedom is granted by our Constitution or anything. Or that other countries' legal frameworks. Or that these are all written by people, not God (until the Conservative Christians replace the U.S. Constitution with their bible).
Bush: "And he's [Saddam] a danger to his own people as well. Remember, we discovered mass graves with hundreds of thousands of men and women, and children, clutching their little toys, as a result of this person's brutality. Go ahead. Sorry. (Chuckles.)." Ha ha. Dead people in mass graves. Tee hee hee.
Frost: "And the -- and in -- one of the reasons that people say in the Arab world -- that you won't really be able to redress the balance against America until -- until the United States is seen not to tilt towards Israel -- (President Bush chuckles) -- in the Middle East." Bush will never allow himself to be viewed as a fair arbiter. He knows he must lean towards Israel to keep his support from the Conservative Christians.
