Yes, I'm afraid so.
While everyone wastes money on these telephone surveys and internet polls and many good-hearted people receive false hopes from the results of surveys of "adults" or "likely voters," no one is paying attention to the polls that matter.
The poll that does matter shows Bush with a 65% job approval rating.
It was conducted this week, May 16-18, even in the midst of increasing violence in Iraq, the filibuster freak sideshow, and so on. The pollster asked 1,500 Diebold voting machines, "Do you approve or disapprove of how President Bush is handling his job." An astounding 65% of Diebold machines said he was doing a good to excellent job on all counts.
The remaining 35% of Diebold machines flickered and then went blank.
MOE +/- 3.5%.
Seriously, do these polls really matter? Trust the machines.
