This may have been batted around here already and I haven't read It (because I'm long since Shiavo'ed out) but why isn't anyone talking about the number of lives that could be saved if Teri Shiavo was allowed her desire not to have her life artificially supported?
If she dies a natural death in the next week or so, her organs could be harvested to save the lives of many other people. Teri would live on as the heart, the lungs, the corneas, etc. of a dozen Evangelicals if only her parents could get their heads around the idea.
What an overwhelmingly positive experience her life and death would ultimately be. I know this could be portrayed as looking at Teri as just an organ factory but heck, it's a lot more palatable to me than what the Republicans are doing to her now.
Any thoughts? If this idea is repetitive, I'll delete the diary.
