I'm not really surprised, just perplexed:
A Gallup survey conducted for CNN and USA Today puts Bush's approval rating at 49% -- close to his preelection numbers. That's 10 to 20 points lower than every elected sitting president at this stage since just after World War II, according to Gallup, which has been tabulating such data since Harry S. Truman won a full term in 1948.
Buyer's remorse or what? I'm starting to think now that Bush voters were more into voting against Kerry than they were voting for Bush. Rove's noise machine did a bang up job demonizing Kerry and whipping the country into a fear frenzy. The RNC's talking points diffused valid criticisms of Bush. There was and still is a lack of talking points (i.e. disciplined message) from our side. These all spelled doom for our candidate. On the upside, Bush's dismal approval ratings may help stall the destructive legislation he will propose in his second term. Let's hope this is a trend.
