Wow. America, and in particular our party, need to take a listen to the
king of easy listening.
Burt Bacharach, famous composer of the catchy easy listening hits "My Little Red Book," "Do You Know the Way to San Jose?", "I Say a Little Prayer (for You)" and "Raindrops Keep Falling on My Head" has gone all, well, political on us. And he's been rewarded for it.
Bacharach won the Grammy Award last night for Best Pop Instrumental Album for his work
At This Time. The album, a collaboration with Dr. Dre, (yes, THAT Dr. Dre) was inspired by his outrage of the politics of our time and includes such politically tinged song titles such as "Please Explain", "Always Taking Aim", and "In our Time".
More importantly, though, is what Bacharach said at the Grammy Awards last night about the sad state of our times:
With his two preteen children standing by his side, Bacharach said:
"I've never seen times like we've got right now. I'm really upset. This is the future I'm leaving behind for these kids, and I'm concerned. I think we've really made a mess of it. If the president had just gotten up and said, 'I made a mistake. I take full blame for it. There are no weapons of mass destruction; our information was wrong. Bear with me and we'll get through this together.' But to be stonewalled -- " Bacharach shook his head. "I never like to be lied to by a girlfriend or an agent. And certainly not the president of the United States."
Go, Burt! But more importantly, if Burt gets it, why can't our Democrats in Washington?
Seriously, Burt Bacharach is saying the president lied. And we don't like being lied to. So let's call him out every chance we get.
I'm sure Burt, and the rest of us, will be happy the day such things as the liberal blogs are rendered obsolete by the fact that the Democratic Party decided to stand up and tell the truth.
More importantly, I think Burt gave us a nice sound byte/meme to spread:
We don't like it when they are lied to by friends and family. And we certainly don't like it when we're lied to by the President.
Lather, rinse and repeat as necessary.
