Terry is in a very unfortunate position. My heart bleeds for her. However what is being done for her, and her alone; is destroying the checks and balances of the Constitution.
President Bush himself as Governor of Texas signed into law, the ability of the HOSPITAL to discontinue medical assistance to Patience, even against the will of the guardians. One of the deciding factors allowing this is the patients ability to pay. Last week a 6 month old baby had medical assistance, by court order against the mother's wishes, discontinued. The next day the Baby died.
Is Terry the only person with this medical assistance need. Obviously not.
Terry has received due process of the law for the last 15 years. She has had 20 court decisions, virtually all in favor of the husband and doctors discontinuing medical assistance.
The President and Congress passing law to address this ONE INDIVIDUAL SITUATION is a complete abuse of executive, and legislative power.
She has received more judicial review of her case than most of the death row prisoners who were put to death while President Bush was Governor of Texas.
Let God have Terry now. She will be in a better place.
