America has been turned into an Oil Republic. Remember the term "Banana Republic"? It was a reference to the way that United Fruit Company and others controlled the politics and leadership of Central American Republics. Today, with the disaster in the South and the increasing cost of energy in the United States we see the result of putting two "Oil Guys" Bush-Cheney at the top of the executive branch of government.
... The Congress is owned by the energy producers, real estate developers and multi-national corporations that could care less about the American people.
First, the Bush administration turned its back on the environmental treaty that was taking steps against global warming. After Katrina, does anyone doubt the results of this environmental dilemma?
Second, the Bush administration and Congress have worked together to see that there would be a propping up of energy costs due to the planned failure to construct and maintain the proper amount of processing plants to provide the gasoline required by the American people. The oil companies and real estate developers could not wait to get to drill and divide the National Parks and National Forests. The oil companies are making unprecedented profits at this time as the American people dig deeper into their pockets in order to pay to fill their tanks.
Finally, what we observed last weekend is the "smoking gun" of the real intentions of this new band of thugs that have taken over our country. When the alert to evacuate was issued by the Governor of Mississippi, the former Chair of the Republican National Committee, he suggested that the citizens of Mississippi check into hotels in Memphis, Little Rock and to drive there as soon as possible. This is fine if you could afford to get into your SUV and check into the Marriott, but all Americans can't do that. Did the Governor of Mississippi arrange to have bus service or truck service to pick up the poor and the ill and take them to higher ground? What did the state, counties and municipalities do with their vehicles, many which sat idle in parking lots as the government employees headed for safety. This is genocide. These people hate the poor, the weak and those who need extra help.
But it is even worse. In this part of America the Southern Baptist churches thrive. They have massive Churches with Sunday School Buses, with beautiful sanctuaries where they raise their voices singing the praises of the Bush administration. Did anyone hear of these "born again" Christians reach out and try to take the poor and ill to higher ground?
It is a sad day in America. We have allowed the "evil ones" to take over America and now they are about their business. The Americans that care must reach deeper into their pockets to raise funds to help out these poor and ill Americans while Bush and his cronies help rebuild the ocean front homes of the mighty and rich.
