...After tracking down the now-wounded sniper with a team from B Company, 4th Battalion, 1st Iraqi Army Brigade, Tschiderer secured the terrorist with a pair of handcuffs and gave medical aid to the terrorist who'd tried to kill him just minutes before.
I read this article and got a little choked up. I instantly recalled the famous video of that soldier finishing off a wounded insurgent to which I reacted with a mortified embarassment.
My pride in sharing citizenship with Pfc. Tschiderer is bittersweet, however, knowing that his honor is both unmatched by, and wasted on, those Americans who have propagated this waste of lives and resources.
I can only hope that news of this incident and others like it (when they occur) spreads far and wide, as this example can teach both our own leaders and our opponents. I plan to publicize it among my friends and Internet contacts and I hope others will as well.
