Here's a little tidbit for today, another drip drop in the steady erosion of freedom at the hands of religious fundamentalists.

Albertsons Pulls Latest Issue of Seventeen

Albertsons here pulled the October issue of Seventeen magazine from it's 2,500 store locations, according to news reports released Friday. The magazines have been pulled because of an article titled, "Vagina 101." Close-up drawings detail various parts of the female anatomy, under the headline "Owner's Manual." Albertsons' corporate office issued a statement saying the magazine was pulled because of complaints from customers.

One of the saddest things about the rise of the religious right is the degree to which they are subjecting Americans to rule by Religious Fatwa.  

Our fundamentalist preachers see nothing wrong with imposing their views on the country by coercion, threats, or force.

At a time when many of us are horrified by the human rights abuses towards women in countries like Afghanistan, where religious enforcers hound women who do not conform to religious requirements,  it seems like more and more of our fellow citizens see no harm in acting the same way, albeit on a more minor scale. But, as the twig is bent ..... so grows the tree.

This cave by Albertson's to fundamentalists is part of the same movement that wants to destroy sex education, that opposes distribution of condoms, that opposes science based policies, and is actively in favor of bringing religion into the classroom.
