Well, Carnacki may be gone until August, but that doesnt mean I cant read happy stories, goldurnit! I didnt see anyone else rip him off yet (surprisingly), so I'm a-gonna do it! This week, anyway. Im slightly less lazy than usual tonight. If someone already ripped him off earlier lemme know and Ill delete...
flippity-floppity!
In honor of Fathers Day, Ill share a brief happy story about my dad. When I was a wee lass and heavily into Wonder Woman, circa 1978, my father handcrafted all the Wonder Woman accessories to go with my Wonder Woman Underoos, which I wore ALL THE TIME. Seriously, ALL THE FREAKING TIME. Today I would no doubt be the subject of a Dr Phil show, or Supernanny or some other pop-psych crap tv show.
Dad cut me a length of golden lasso, and fashioned a holster on one of my belts so that it could mount properly. He also made me golden magic bracelets with stars, a tiara, and he invented a Wonder Woman magic wand...a wooden dowel with a star topper spraypainted gold. Even though the wand was not an authentic Wonder Woman accessory, I LOVED it! I was even BETTER than the real Wonder Woman because she didnt have a magic wand! When my ensemble was complete, and I had on my red Wellington rubber boots, I looked fantastic. Truly, I could kick anyone's ass.
Anyway...I tiny slice of my childhood when dad was simply the Hero. There were many such moments and Im thankful for all of them. Hopefully this time next year my husband will have kid of his own to be a hero to, as opposed to the in-utero one he has now. The in-utero ones arent much fun...
Happy Fathers Day!
Also, didnt Underoos rule???
