Using Scoop or another collaborative software

Can any body help me with some basic advice on using Scoop, the opensource software DK runs on?

I'm looking for different collaborative/blog software solutions for an association in Paris, and am considering using SCOOP.

If one of you has some practical advice on SCOOP, or on another software solution (open or closed source), I would most appreciate it.
