My name is Ian Hines, and I am a senior Blog Writer for Generation Dean, the official youth outreach campaign of Dean for America. This is the letter that was sent out to the 23,479 registered Generation Dean members and posted on Blog for America.
Last January we set out speaking with people our age about this guy running for president who wasn't afraid to stand up to George Bush and say what he really thinks. Over the past year, you've built the biggest and most active network of people our age to support a presidential candidate.
Generation Dean is built on the local level -- and GenDean exists only because of what you do at your school, in your neighborhood, and with your friends. And now you have a new website to help you continue to grow support for Howard Dean:
www.generationdean.com
Generation Dean's new website came from the grassroots -- thanks to the hard work of GenDean Arizona members Hunter Weeks and Josh Caldwell and GenDean DC member Sean Gallavan, GenerationDean.com 2.0 was built to help you connect with GenDeaners from your area and across the country, both online and offline.
Our new site was designed to help you make connections with members and groups within Generation Dean, and to decentralize the way we operate. Rather than have everything coordinated through headquarters, you now have the power to do everything you need on your own. You can share ideas and resources, find other people in your area, and run your own local operation of our campaign.
It comes with hot new features: every member gets their own personal blog, as does every group. Groups also get a calendar, databases for members and media, and so many other cool features. Better yet, everything can be shared between all users. Not everything's ready to go yet -- but over the next few days you'll see them come online.

By bringing new people into politics, and by showing people our age what's at stake in this election, you've changed the way campaigns are run. Young people and college students helped Howard Dean in his New Hampshire comeback on Tuesday -- and Howard Dean won the most votes from 18-29 year olds in the state.
Thank you for everything you do -- and don't forget to tell your friends about our new site.
Sincerely,
Amanda, Michael, Sean, and Tony
