Yes, The main reason is the conservatives and there allies in the media. Conservatives are out raged over the Democratic draft memo, GOP Senators are on the air wave lecturing about the politicization of the war. Conservatives have a short memories, GOP Senators own most of there majority in the Senate due to the politicization of the war. Democratic Senator Max Cleland of Georgia can testify to this, the GOP in there campaign question the Senator commitment to the Department of Home Land Security (a democratic idea) on the ground of labor unions. Karl Rove before the midterm election told a RNC meeting to run on the war. GOP wanted to vote on the war before the elections, to make all Democratic member of Congress vote up or down on the war on terrorism.
Again, the politicization of the war.
Many Democrats did not believe Iraq was next step in the war on terrorism. Countless number of Democrats wanted to finish the Afghan war first. Due to the politicization of the war, a no vote meant a charge of weak on terrorism in the media and a campaign issue for the GOP. The Democratic party is strong on the war on terrorism and national defense, but due to the politicization of the war if you do not follow the GOP line in the media you are accuse of being weak and un-American.
Everything is politically to conservatives from terrorism to family values and religion. The next time you hear a conservative whine about politicization of an issue, they can only blame themselves. It is time liberal and the Democratic party fight back. We must hold our ground on our core values. We must not let the GOP and the media define us as weak and un-American while Conservative are rolling back the New Deal, taking away civil liberties, ramming an privileged economic agenda in congress, exposing CIA agents, stretching the military thin, under funding school, states, military benefits, profiteering by special interest, and so on. It is time to take our Country back!
