Why can't people understand the concept that the left lane is for people who want to go "fast", and the right lane is for the elderly & everyone else who wants to go as "slow" as a fuckin turtle to get where they're going? Every day I drive to school & work, and every day at some point along the way I get stuck behind 2 cars who want to go 45mph side by side blocking traffic. I have this theory that all of the traffic jams on the Southern California freeways can be traced to one asshole who wouldn't speed up or move over to the right lane & let traffic pass.
I've noticed that people, and I'm no different, get extremely pissed when it comes to things with their cars. I've known people who carry a baseball bat in their trunk in case they get into an accident & they "need" it...
...Today, I witnessed a fight in a parking lot when a guy came back to his truck to witness the guy in the adjacent parking space
banging his car-door into the guy's truck, after the idiot parked about 4 inches away from him. Security had to pull them apart. This is not the first time I've witnessed people in a fight related to automobiles.
One Christmas, I was at the mall when two guys fought over a parking space. One of the men had seen a car getting ready to back out, and put on his turn signal to "call" the space. Another guy went around from the other direction & snatched the space when the car pulled out. The guy who had put on his turn signal got out of his car, walked over & punched the asshole who stole the parking space.
If you run a Google News search for the term "Road Rage" you'll find hundreds of incidents that've happened relatively recently across the country. Incidents like this...
The incident began at about 6:15 a.m. when the two men in a car headed north on New Hope Street were cut off by a late '90s Mazda MPV near McFadden Avenue, said Santa Ana police Sgt. Lorenzo Carrillo. The two vehicles came to a side-by-side stop at a traffic signal at New Hope and Fifth Street a few minutes later.
Words were exchanged between occupants of the vehicles, Carrillo said. The female driver of the Mazda leaned forward and the man beside her reached forward and fired one shot that hit both of the victims in the back, the sergeant said.
The good news, if you can call it that, is that incidents like this happen around the globe, and not just unique to Americans. You can see
Singapore Road Rage in the clip below...
So what is it about being in a car & being cut off or driving stupidly, that makes normal people ready to kill?
