United Airlines defaults, Homeland Security intercepts

Isn't it interesting that on the day when United Airlines was crashing & burning their employees' pension plan, leaving the American taxpayers to bail it out, the major news story was not about the huge airline's default, but a single-engine airplane, one that was violating restricted airspace around the Capitol and White House. How convenient for the Bush Administration and the Republican Congress that all attention was drawn to this little airplane piloted by a student and his instructor.

I'm not an actuary or an oddsmaker, but what is the probability of this happening in the same 24 hour news cycle? It would have to be incredibly long odds; but, if you believe in incredible coincidence, divine intervention or miracles, anything is possible. Or is Karl Rove(or Dick Cheney) just that powerful?
