I was spitting mad, but not so surprised at reading Adam Nagourney in today's Week In Review:

DEMOCRATS ENTANGLED
So What Happened in That Election, Anyhow?
By ADAM NAGOURNEY

WITH the exception of a few Democratic outliers in Ohio, few people dispute that the election for president is done and decided: President Bush won and John Kerry lost.
So that's it? Forget Conyers, Fitrakis, and all the other tinfoil hat wearing wackos with unending tales of chicanery and shennanagi in the 2004 election. Lets move on...and analyze all the places the dems screwed up....
another excerpt:
But the very ambiguity of the 2004 election results has pushed the party into new sets of arguments, the resolution of which could have far-reaching implications for the next class of Democratic candidates for Congress and the next presidential election. For example, did Democrats lose because they were seen as lax on "values," which was the early verdict on the Kerry loss, or because they were seen as weak on terrorism?
The confusion, in part, is a result of the hasty - and often flawed - analyses that have come to mark politics in the age of the Internet and nonstop news cycles. The urge to explain immediately why Mr. Kerry lost was aggravated by what many pollsters viewed as flawed exit polling that led analysts initially to overstate factors like the role of values and the number of Hispanic voters who fled Mr. Kerry for Mr. Bush.
OK, yes, we have been pounding on Democratic Party errors ad nauseum and for sure there was a lack of vision and a lack of determination to win the election, but.... passing off the 'flawed exit polling' without any consideration to the FLAWED VOTE COUNTING?? Another PARTISAN secretary of state controlling elections in a pivotal battleground?
Why not just say:
"2004 proves conclusively that the Republicans can damn well steal any election from here on in, and there is nothing the Democrats or the American people can do about it. In fact, we will continue to ignore that it is happening and present alternate scenarios to explain the failure to break the stranglehold on democracy. Face it America, your vote just doesn't count...hehehe it may not even get counted in the first place"
Come on Nagourney, or SOMEBODY have the cojones to tell it like it is on the record.
Grrr......
