A bit of good news out of this otherwise lethargic and bloated process of rebuilding the World Trade Center site. With the Freedom Tower and the memorial being contested over fiercely, one building has escaped much notice. You know...the sucessor to that building that some in the MIHOP sphere like to say was a victim of controlled demolition? Well, today, Larry Silverstein has decided to "pull it," that is, pull off one hell of an opening ceremony, featuring Suzanne Vega and Lou Reed as performers.

7 World Trade Center Officially Open For Business
May 23, 2006
A sign of progress at the World Trade Center site as one of the last buildings to fall on September 11th is now the first to reopen.
Hundreds of people came out to celebrate the new 52 story-building. The festivities included a concert featuring Suzanne Vega and Lou Reed.
"It's a day therefore of tremendous pride and satisfaction for me to be able to look at this structure and see what we've been able to accomplish in 5 years since September 11th," said Silverstein.
While much of 52-story tower is vacant now, developer Larry Silverstein says he expects the building at 250 Greenwich Street to be full by this time next year.
