Once again, with the exception of yours truly, the entire DailyKos community missed the point of Armando's outing. There is no need to get caught up in nuance. Armando's outing can be understood, and lessons best learned for the rest of us, by breaking the circumstances down into a simple mathematical formula:
Successful Professional Life + Compelling Online Presence = Target for Outing
Successful Professional Life. Much has been made about how successful Armando is as an attorney. I don't doubt that he is a great attorney. In fact, when I am a high-powered corporate executive seeking to create my global empire, I would like to hire Armando to help me with that. However, it should be noted that Armando made a choice to become successful and effective as an advocate for his clients. That was his first mistake. If you wish to maintain your anonymity online, ensure you remain inconsequential in your professional life. Unemployment is probably your best option.
Compelling Online Presence. For those of you unfortunate enough to have already become successful, you can still ensure your online privacy by focusing on the second variable. As others have noted, many attorneys post on DailyKos. I daresay some may even be successful. However, what those powerful attorneys understand, which apparently Armando does not, is that writing crap that scrolls quickly into oblivion will ensure you stay off the winger radar screen. That was Armando's second mistake: he wrote compelling, persuasive, and discussion-inducing stuff.
How can we really feel pity for Armando when he couldn't figure out what our run-of-the mill winger troll knows intuitively? If a winger troll, sitting jobless in his folk's basement, posting substandard tripe between visits to goat porn sites to spunk weakly upon his keyboard can figure this shit out, why not Armando?
I know it works for me. I'm safely tucked away in the fog of middle-management and post infrequently. When I do, I make sure that I have nothing of substance to say. Like this post...which, once I submit, I will forget about as I pull together another TPS report.
Get it together people.
