Well, my first diary in over two years, on the crucial issue of... Beer.
Oklahoma is a beer lover's purgatory.
I'm going to be in the Traverse City Mich area all next week.
So... talk to me! What should I look for in locally brewed bottled beer? What should I not miss if I can find it on tap? Are you out there, Dump Terry McAuliffe?
On my tastes: I saw a discussion several weeks ago where it was claimed Dogfish Head IPA was America's best beer. I had the 90-Minute IPA last month and I would not be too prone to disagree (though "prone" would be an apt description after two of them...)
But given only one chance, I'll go for a stout. Victory Storm King. Thirsty Dog Siberian Nights. Rogue Shakespeare. Great Divide Yeti.
I know all about Bell's! Never had any. I'd die for a taste of Expedition Stout.
I"m planning on stopping in Ludington on the way up for lunch at Jamesport Brewing Co.
And I plan visits to North Peak in TC, and especially Short's in Bellaire.
So, share your wisdom! I'll be in your debt, and will toast your kindness.
