Edwards had a rally today in Columbus on the Ohio State University campus. The showing seemed very strong. I got there late and was told to go outside for the overflow, as the large theater that was being used for overflow had filled up. So I got to watch the speech through an open door on the patio....
I haven't heard Edwards' stump speech too many times, but I presume he used the same one he has been using. The theme of the speech was the "Two Americas" primarily. A pretty good speech overall though. Some parts were cheesy, but I like his speaking more than Kerry.
The interesting part was right at the beginning of the speech. Edwards came out said a few words and then said (paraphrased), "But I'm going to stop right there. First, I want to say thank you to a man who has brought so many new people into this party. He has changed the face of politics and this party like no one else. For all that he has done, I want to thank my good friend Gov. Howard Dean".
I thought they way he talked was interesting. Something about it sounded like Dean was about to pop out from behind a curtain and endorse Edwards. It seems that JRE is now trying to reach out to Deaniacs here at least, and it may be working. I saw a lot of familiar faces from Meetup and Students for Dean with Edwards stickers on today. The former Ohio coordinator for Dean was also there passing out Edwards flyers. There were people there with "Deanaics for Edwards" signs. So can Edwards continue to grab most of Dean's support in the March 2nd states? He may still be in it if he can.
