Well... two simple questions. The first, "Dear Senator, will you support the winner of the Democratic primary for U.S. Senate in Connecticut?" Who knew it was such a tough question, as the
Hartford Courant reports:
Want to see a Democratic senator squirm? Don't ask about Iraq or gasoline prices. Ask about Joe Lieberman.
They edge toward the door, duck into the elevator, scoot down the hall to avoid the question: Will you support Joe Lieberman if he loses the Aug. 8 Senate primary to Ned Lamont and runs as an independent?
Most answer they will support the Dem. nominee, like Senators Feingold and Menendez. Some get coy and avoid the question, like Senators Schumer and Reid. Others, unfortunately, express their support for Lieberman, like Ben Nelson. Too bad.
Here's a little background on that "one simple question" -- hopefully something to give you a glimpse of how the Connecticut blogging community is making a very real impact on this race. It was
Connecticut Blog that took the lead on the project. You might remember him as the one that got the audio of Senator Lieberman considering aloud an independent bid in a closed-to-press meeting. But I digress. Emulating Josh Marshall, they were going to get candidates and electeds on the record answering that "one simple question."
It started with the two gubernatorial candidates both saying yes. The first, Dan Malloy doing so during a live-blogging session on another local blog, My Left Nutmeg. Congressional candidates, state reps, and eventually the state party chair all answered that "one simple question" in the affirmative. They will support the Democratic nominee for United States Senate in Connecticut. You can check out the fully tally here.

A Second Simple Question
These local bloggers do such tremendous work. They are all amazing in their own right. And with the fundraising deadline approaching, what better way to help Ned Lamont than to help many of the local bloggers reach their humble goals via the campaign's personal fundraising tool. Check it out:
Connecticut Blog -- $100, someone can help the bloggers serving as the source for the "one simple question"
Spazeboy -- Spazeboy is the guy who started the Ned Lamont Resource. It's a wealth of information, pictures, audio, and video about Ned updated daily.
My Left Nutmeg -- The largest community blog in the state. Candidates of all stripes post there, and it's becoming a force in local politics. Please help out the MLN crew. My Left Nutmeg was also home to the first candidate answering that "one simple question." Many a Kos contributor call MLN their home, including the creators of the "dump joe" movement -- ctkeith and DeanFan84.
Connecticut Bob -- Who can forget "the director" -- the guy who created the maps for rape victims after Senator Lieberman said he would deny emergency contrapception for "principled reasons" to victims of sexual assault? His maps were featured at the NOW endorsement of Ned. He is also the creator of many of the fine NedHeads YouTube videos you might have seen. A great all around guy, and his goal, too, is modest.
Lamont Blog -- He's already reached his goal, but let me say a few words about him. Unquestionably the most widely read blog inside CT by political pundits and journalists following this race. I even had one reporter say he visited the site with his cup of coffee right after he reads his OWN paper. Again, he's reached his goal, but any bit helps Ned, and will inspire The lamont blog to increase his goal. He's out of town this weekend, imagine the surprise when he returns to an overflowing boat?
None of these bloggers know I am doing this, and it would be great if they all got back tonight to full fundraising pages. Can you help them?
