Hello netroots,
My name is Keith Taylor, a 28 yr old candidate for County Clerk in Coles County, Illinois. I wanted to introduce myself to other fellow Kos'ies and discuss the importance of local politics.
If any of you are from Illinois, you know the system here is broken. Ranked as one of the worst electoral systems in the nation, a contributor may donate unlimited monies to either party. The contributors may be corporate, labor, etc. In other words, in Illinois, a solid Democratic state, we are missing a real chance for the beginning of a progressive movement.
That is where I come in. I am not running for myself or any special interest. I am running to build a true populist movement. Your county, your government is the message of my campaign.
With this candidacy, I will discuss open government movements, the utilization of new technoligies to bring government to the people when they demand, and also easing the anti-democratic constraint of voter registration.
We must work to take back all of these local offices and make them advocates of not just tax-payers, but also citizens in general.
As a candidate for 2006, I ask you to please consider taking on such a role. Please vie for offices you are told are solid. Run on progressive, populist ideals, and be an idealist, not an ideologue. Together we can take this country back!
I look forward to keeping the KOS community updated on my campaign's progress. Further, if you wish to support my campaign, please go to www.keithtaylor.us.
I hope to hear from you folks.
Keith Taylor
