UPDATE- LA Senator David Vitter (R): Liar, Liar, Pants on Fire

Does Karl Rove have a secret code word to get every Republican politician in Washington to fall in line like a swarm of manchurian candidates?

I just heard Louisana Senator David Vitter on Anderson Cooper 360 tell Cooper an outright, bald faced lie, if he was quoted correctly. Anderson asked him what grade would he give the federal government now after giving them an 'F' on Friday.  He said he wouldn't grade the response, but he first caveated his statement by saying he gave "all" government entities an 'F', not just the federal government. Let's go to the video tape (ok, website, you get the picture).

Vitter, speaking to reporters at the emergency response center in Baton Rouge, also said he gave the federal government a grade 'F' for its response to the disaster so far.

Maybe he was misquoted, but I doubt it.  He certainly did not correct the record.  

Cooper also caught Trent Lott in falsely representing the Federal response.

Does Karl Rove have some type of voodoo doll or something?  It is truly amazing.

Is there a Republican politician out there who is not willing to lie profusely?

Update [2005-9-5 20:42:17 by justmy2]:Vitter on Paula Zahn tonight. This is not a direct quote, but is essence he said when asked if the President could have responded earlier...

"The President was on top of this situation early on, because he signed off on the Federal State of Emergency on Saturday."

Except for that vacation, cake cutting, VJ Speech, fiddling and fly-by....

These guys really know where their bread is buttered...kick out the front door and don't let the door hit them on the way out...
