One of my goals this year is to do everything in my power to ensure that Republican Mayor Michael Bloomberg is DEFEATED in the 2005 NYC Mayoral election.
Some ask why I am so passionate about defeating a mayor who is very liberal on social issues and many economic issues. Heck, even some NY Republicans refer to him as the Liberal Democratic Mayor of NY. Some of my friends point out that he is more in line with my beliefs than half of the Democrats in Congress!
Fuck that!
Bloomberg got my vote in 2001 through 9/11 Giuliani psych-ops, but it's NOT happening in 2005.
The reason Bloomberg needs to go is simple: when push comes to shove, and the Rethugs need something, Bloomberg seeks to satiate their needs in a stealthy and covert manner.
Why else should we NOT vote for Bloomberg?
- Begging and pleading and doing everything possible to have that VILE Republican convention in NYC. I still feel dirty when I take the train at Penn Station and think that just above me, at MSG, thousands of Rethugs were saluting their dictator: George Bush.
- Since winning the Mayoral election and his conversion to the Republican party, he has only given money and sponsored events for Republican candidates (including conservative party candidates). Now, since he is in a "situation," and knows he has to sure up Democratic support (Dems outnumber Republicans 5 to 1 in NYC), he is lending out his townhouse to DEMOCRATS for fundraisers:
NY Daily News - Bloomberg bats for another Democrat
Queens Assemblyman Michael Gianaris, a likely candidate for state attorney general next year, is the latest Democrat to benefit from Republican Mayor Bloomberg's largess across party lines.
Gianaris will be feted at Bloomberg's townhouse tomorrow at a fund-raiser that's expected to raise about $200,000 for a possible attorney general run.
"He was kind enough to offer his assistance," Gianaris told the Daily News yesterday.
Bloomberg has rarely been photographed with Dubya and avoids it like the plague- and he does not plan on attending the Presidential Inaugural:
NY Daily News - Inaugural? Sorry, W, says Bloomberg
It's rare for well-known elected officials to skip an inauguration when the President shares their party affiliation.
Even though he helped lure the Republican National Convention here last summer, Bloomberg has been sprinting away from Bush as he gears up for reelection.
New York City voters are overwhelmingly Democratic, and one of the strategies that Bloomberg's Democratic rivals are using is tagging him with a scarlet "R."
To counter that, Bloomberg's been putting distance between himself and national GOPers, and wrapping himself around local Democrats. On Sunday, sources said, he's slated to get the endorsement of the Rev. Floyd Flake, a prominent black minister and former Democratic congressman.
Bloomberg was coy about the Flake nod, but made clear he's trying to neutralize the field.
"I don't think that this is an election, anymore than my last one was, about politics," he said. "This is an election about who can do the best job for this city."
My fellow Democrats...
- Don't be fooled by Bloomberg's recent hand gestures to Democrats.
- Don't be fooled by Floyd Flake's endorsement of Bloomberg last week.
- Don't be fooled by Bloomberg's recent criticism of Bush's tax changes that would hurt NY.
- Don't be fooled by the million dollar blitz he will begin via TV ads and highly coordinated target marketing.
VOTE for Ferrer. VOTE for Miller. VOTE for Weiner. VOTE for Fields.
But, under NO circumstance should you vote for Bloomberg. He is a Republican and a liberal "fake ya" Republicans (liek Ah-nold) try to FOOL ya and when they get into office and no one is looking, they PUSH the Republican AGENDA.
Don't be Fooled!!!!!!!
