Good news in South Dakota, as Stephanie Herseth
will run for the state's sole Congressional seat next year.
Herseth came within a whisker of beating out Janklow in 2002. And Janklow now has a -- ahem -- little problem, what with that manslaughter trial first week of December (for killing a motorcyclist after speeding through a stop sign at 71 mph).
If Janklow's career comes screeching to a halt, that might spur Thune to try and regain his old congressional seat (which he surrendered at Rove's insistence to run for Senate against Johnson in 2002). And if Thune runs for the Congressional seat, and not for the Senate again, Daschle will likely coast to reelection.
