Congressman Wayne T. Gilchrest (R-MD-1st), a decorated Vietnam vet, said Friday he would support an end to "Don't Ask, Don't Tell." And one of his reasons for doing so is perhaps the most surprising part of the decision.
In a story in The Daily Times in Salisbury, MD, Gilchrest's decision was attributed thusly: "He also said he was concerned about any policy that narrowed the pool of recruits at a time when military recruiters are having a hard time meeting their quotas." Full text of the article is here.
So "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" may finally be eliminated because Congress wants to avoid a draft and still keep its undeclared war in Iraq. James Dobson's head must be ready to explode.
