Opening Day in JAPAN?!!! An issue for Kerry...

This seems like a little thing in the big picture but...

The first official game of the baseball season was played in Japan (Yankees lost to Tampa Bay- HA!) It seems like most people (especially NASCAR dads) think its just plain wrong for opening day not be in the US of A.  It also seems like nothing better illustrates globalization and jobs issues (how many Yankee stadium employees didn't work because the game was played in Japan?) than opening day being played in JAPAN!

So...

Bush is a baseball guy- chummy w/the owners, etc.  Kerry should come out and say its a shame baseball didn't open here in the US, and that not only is it just plain wrong for traditions sake, this is globalization at its worst.  He should then challenge Bush to speak on the issue.

If Bush agrees, fine, nothing lost, but it does put Bush on the hotseat with his billionaire owner buddies (always fun to watch).  

It reminds me of a George Will (another baseball guy) column before the 2000 election.  He recounted how Gore and Bush were asked what they think of baseball being played in a dome.  Gore gave some long-winded answer about the engineering/architectural advances that enable such feats, etc.  Bush simply said "I think baseball should be played outdoors".  George Will followed these statements up with a pithy "Let's vote."  

Not Gore's finest hour, a good illustration of why he lost, and now, with opening day in Japan, an opportunity for Kerry.
