A day after the Pope's funeral and the day of the wedding in England, I went to the BBC as usual to read the headlines.
The following headline made me stop,
Secret atrocities.
How the violence in DR Congo has taken a sinister turn
More below the fold.
I read the article and all I felt was despair. Why does this happen in this day and age? Why do we close our eyes and ears and minds to such matters?
Is it because it is Africa?
Is it because the events are so bizarre and outside of our own experience that we cannot bear to think about them?
Do we not believe the stories that the reporters are told by the people they meet?
Read the story and think about it, and then ask yourself why.
DR Congo's atrocious secret
All I now feel is ashamed.
