Well so far the first 100 hours of the Democratic congress seem to be running along quiet smoothly. So far the have accomplished in passing new ethic rules on lobbying and budgeting, installing the 9/11 security measures, rasing the minimum wage to 7.25,expanding federally funded stem cell research, and a negotiate drug bill. The have completed these things 23 of the 100 hours and still are aiming to pass two final bills that will cut interest rates on some student loans and recouping more money from oil royalties and redistributing it to renewable energy technologies. All of these measures had enjoyed wide support from the public. But the we must remember that this is simply a steping stone on the way to 08.
I feel now is the time to begin and huge wave of support for democrats that will carry us into the White house. Especially with Bush just having given his speech on the surge in the Iraq war, many republicans are not following Mr Bush on this one. Democrats will have popular support from the first 100 hours and by not supporting the war. Democrats need to pounce on the republicans while they are breaking away from the presidents policys en masse. Dems could break the seemingly always unified front of the republican party. Doing all this the dems need to do is stand togeather against Iraq, and behind the 08 canidates.
While the Republicans are fighting themselves dems need to crank up the grassroots movement. some poeple are starting early by creating googlebombs against John McCain and other republicans. But we must get more dems and indepandents started early. They have to start to do things like join MoveOn.org, join presidential canidates websites, put a democratic bumper sticker on your car or bike about 20,000 poeple a year will read it, turn your radio to a progressive station because station popularity is based on how many people listen, buy stuff at places that have a repuation of giving contrabutions to the democratic party like costco or apple, for a list of such places go to
buyblue.org, and lastly get poeple to sign up and participate in dems blogs. Now that the Dems have finally decided to hold the National convention in Denver things should start to move along faster. Hillary and Obama are expected to announce their candidacys within the month and the first presidential debate is going to be held on April 4 and 5. Dems need to move! go go go
