Tonight, Republicans in the Senate will use the filibuster to attempt to block a vote on the Levin-Reed amendment, which calls for withdrawal of US forces from Iraq.
The media, across the board, seems curiously reluctant to use the word 'filibuster'.
Or 'obstruction'.
Most of the big lefty blogs have mentioned this by now. Here's Josh's take over at TPM, and Atrios weighs in as well.
Here's more from mediamatters.org.
But don't take their word for it - look for yourself. I challenge kossacks to find an article in the MSM that reports the Republican filibuster accurately. I honestly have not been able to find one.
We all know that the MSM regularly spins stories until they're nearly unrecognizable, but the apparent unity of the media in avoiding the "f" word is almost creepy. It's almost as if they all received the same instructions.
I'll be curious to see how the spin evolves throughout the night. How long can they keep this up? I'll be keeping an eye out - y'all do the same.
