There's some contention about how to vote for Ohio's Issue One, a technology and road repair bill.
According to the League of Women Voters:
League Pros
- This amendment would provide a much-needed influx of funding for the infrastructure needs of local governments, including repair of roads and bridges and water and wastewater facilities.
- Bond money will aid in transforming Ohio's economy from its emphasis on heavy manufacturing to a more high-tech, knowledge-based economy.
League Cons:
- This amendment would override current Ohio constitutional protections against state and local governments giving away public tax dollars to benefit private business interests. The private market, not the government, should finance research and development.
- In repaying the bonds, legislators lose flexibility in allocating funds for other state services that may be more urgent.

That's all well and good. But there's a better reason to vote Yes:
The Fundies HATE Issue One and are Praying For it's Failure

It is here at last. The polls are open. The votes are being cast.
Have we done enough, prayed enough, have we reached enough people to defeat Issue One?
On Sunday the Columbus Dispatch released a final poll showing Issue One leading with only 53% of the vote. The poll ran through last Thursday. That is a three point DROP from the last CD Poll. The critical momentum has turned. The CD readily admitted that this issue is volatile and could change quickly as voters finally focus on the specifics of Issue One.
"Jobs for Ohio" made a frantic ad buy and ad switch in the past 48 hours. Everywhere we have been successful -- JFO has tried to carpet bomb with ads. They stuffed WTAM radio last night during the Triv Show. They rewrote their "Christian" ad for Salem radio and tried to counter our very effective ad campaign.
Only one question remains -- can we close the final 3 points by 7:30 pm tonight?
Here is what you can do:
- Pray and we really mean pray for God's mercy for Ohio.
- Vote NO on ISSUE ONE (of course).
- Today -- right away-- call 10 people you know and make sure they voted NO on Issue One. Ask them to call 10 people as well. If anyone needs a ride to the polls -- take them. If they need a sitter -- watch their kids for 30 minutes. You can really make a difference.
Defeating Issue One will be a major victory for the Constitution, Ohio's economy, good government, and the Unborn. The message you send today will be heard across the nation.
We will be working to update this site tonight as we await the election results at the state capitol. Please pray. Thanks.
