<set rant on>
I've had all I can take from Jay Marvin, the loudmouth dumbass morning drive host of AM 760 Air America's Boulder affiliate.
For a moment, let's set aside that he is ill-informed, hosts a boring ass program, and has an ego that rivals Rush Limbaugh--for absolutely no apparent reason. Also, let's disregard the fact that his program appears to rest solely on reading the conservative Rocky Mountain News and dribbling out simplistic diatribes that serve no purpose other than to provide Jay a forum to bluster.
I'll even take the high road and refrain from commenting on the embarrassingly amateurish voice-over ads he airs on his program.
His near complete reliance on an open phones format is a trainwreck since Jay is so poorly informed he is unable to 1) have a substantive conversation with knowledgeable callers and 2) reel-in the lunatic fringe that calls in with the tinfoil theory of the week.
This morning's show was the last straw for me.
Today's discussion point: the SCOTUS nomination of John Roberts. A caller, whom identified himself as a Canadian travelling through Colorado, asked a legitimate question--
why was American talk radio placing so much emphasis on the Roberts nomination and how will talk radio have an effect on the Senate confirmation process? Is there a better way to achieve the will of the people?
Incredulous that anyone dare question his arbitrary, swollen-headed authority, Jay launched on the guy and concluded his rant by referring to the caller as a "stinkin' Canadian."
I leaped out of bed and shut the radio off. That's the last time I will listen to AM 760 while that ignoramous remains on the air.
When a so-called progressive radio host implements the same childish-naming calling and xenophobic tactics of the radical right, we might as well throw in the bag of ever persuading folks to vote for our issues and our candidates.
Whether we like it or not, Jay Marvin is a spokesman for progressive Colorado residents. Following up on the surprise elevation of Democratic leadership in both chambers of the Colorado statehouse, we have such an opportunity in this beautiful state to move a progressive message forward.
Jay Marvin's petulant antics on AM 760 can do more to damage our agenda than anything the whacked out Independence Institute lackeys Jon Caldera or John Andrews could ever dream up.
I would urge you to contact AM 760 today and express your outrage at Jay's latest rant. This guy needs to clean up his act or get the hell off the radio.
I'm also sending a note to Be The Change USA to inform them about the personal integrity of the speaker they've hired for their event this weekend.
It's back to the dry-as-dust KUNC-FM NPR affiliate for me.
