So why it is that Karl Rove had it right? And why are we complaining? I will take the proposition of "therapy and understanding" any day over the other option of war and murder.
Karl nailed it; "Conservatives saw the savagery of 9/11 in the attacks and prepared for war", you see for their beleaguered minds they did the only thing they know how to do; kill and destroy that which hurt them. It is a knee jerk reaction from a group of knee jerk reactionaries.
Wasn't it them who claim to have a hold on the Bible; "Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you"? Is this not reasonable? Is this not practical? If only George picked up his bible as often as he picked up his copy of I Am Charlotte Simmons
Why offer bombs and war when you can offer forgiveness and hope? This falls into one of the multitude of fundamental differences between Liberals and Conservatives, one side advocates violence in the face of violence. The other offers peace and understanding, the other side saw Gandhi's successes.
Peace will outlast war any day.
So why, why not bomb them into submission? Why not destroy their villages and kill their men and boys? Why not kill the women and children who depend on men in some third world country? Why not destroy their clay and mud huts with 500lb bombs?
Because that is not what a America does, a real America holds the beliefs of country closer than the flag waving, war mongering hoards on the right. American has a heart and a conscience, not callous hatred.
We shouldn't engage in warfare or terrorism now, not for us, but for the future generations that will come after us. Now we are headed on a path to create a group of people who hate America, which will in turn only lead to more bloodshed on ours and others land.
Being an American is more than pounding your chest and instilling your pride in a piece of cloth. Why not focus on what that piece of cloth represents, because that can never be burned to the ground. This however is an idea that simpletons just seem to not grasp, a simpleton public is a Republican voting public. Until the people once again control Washington, this will never change.
A good quote; which I saw floating around the internet; "The best way to stop terrorism is to not participate in it", in essence we created the ideology of the men crashed their planes into New York City. Our corporations and our secret-behind-the-scenes-Reaganera government bred this hate that we are now fighting. In essences we created our killers, there is no denying this. Until accept this tiny fact in the multitude of lies, we will never see peace.
Isn't it the hope, the hope that we can return to a place in the national conscience where we love one another and all man. Where we patch our wounds and move on to the next phase of this American life? Where we look ahead and not behind? Where we look to see what is coming over the hill, and not back on the rut we hit.
Luckily we are still the party of the dreamers who work hard to instill the faucets that lend us this route, we control the landscape of the mind and the brilliant ideologies what will galvanize our place in the history of the world. It is the blind optimism that keeps me waking every morning with a smile on my face and a job to do. I know I am on the side of man, not on the side of blind hopeless ideology. I know my side has a hard hold on truth and reality. I know my side will prevail in time.
We have a lot to do and it is going to be hard and nasty, but we will take our America back. Our America where we can send our kids to school, our America where our only worry is if they will ever remake The Breakfast Club.
The Republicans are losing their errant grasp on power day by day. Never underestimate them and never, never turn your back on them. But realize that we have the upper hand.
They are truly victims of themselves.
Looking forward to '06 and '08.
