The amendment to the Kansas consitution banning gay marriage passed yesterday, overwhemingly, in every county except in Douglas Co. It was no doubt the majority of people of Lawrence who voted against the amendment.
Here's an article from the Lawrence Journal World about the election. I laughed out loud at the paragraph quoting one pastor, who said, "Lawrence, I think, has shown it's behind the times. I'm sorry for Lawrence."

Well, we tried. One of the good things about this event is that it encouraged many people to become active in speaking out against the amendment, especially college students. At my university, several students organized an awareness group about the vote and did an excellent job of educating the campus on the issue. For many of these students, it was the first time they had become actively engaged in a political event and I hope that this was just the beginning of a life of activism for them.
