Main Street is suffering because of the Bush Administration's miserable job performance: "negative job growth" as the economists might say.
Wall Street isn't doing much better. This morning all the stock indices are down substantially on "terrorism fears." The Dow is down just under 1% on the day, the NASDAQ 1.77%, and the S&P down a little over 1%. Read on for how today's market indices compare against the figures when Bush took office...
The stock market indices closed at these levels on January 19, 2001 (the last day of trading before Bush took office):
Dow: 10,587.59
NASDAQ: 2,770.38
S&P: 1,342.54
That puts Bush's current stock performance at the following:
Dow: -4.3%
NASDAQ: -29.7%
S&P: -17.6%
Way to go, George.
