Howard Dean is not a racist, bigot, or what have you & what he said about appealing to the guys with Confederate battle flags stuck on their pickups is nothing but the hard truth for Democrats. I live in rural New York & those guys live up here too. They get screwed six ways to Sunday, but still vote Republican because they've been taught Dems want to take away their deer rifles. And like most Americans, they don't like being condescended to. He said we cannot ignore poor white folk in the south. I take his point. Special note to Al Sharpton & John Edwards: get down off your phony high horses & quit damaging the party. Your use of race-baiting is despicable & in my book you're both disqualified. You ain't getting my vote. And I voted for Jesse Jackson in the California Primary back in eighty-whatever. Oh, by the way, I'm not actually a Dean supporter--I'm going back & forth between him & Clark. I want to win & get the most destructive administration in American history out of power. When you engage in this sort of demagoguery for the benefit of your pathetic egos, pardon me if I scratch your sorry asses off my list of possible candidates. Grow up. You know what Dean said, but you have chosen to score nasty little debating points while Rome fucking burns. All together now, with Leonard Cohen:
I'm not sentimental, if you know what I mean--
I love the country, but I can't stand the scene.
I'm neither left nor right,
just staying home tonight
getting lost in that hopeless little screen . . .
. . . Democracy is coming . . . to the USA.
