I've never posted here, but I've watched and lurked. I was featured on DU's homepage when I won my Mayor's race in May.
I'm helping a friend (who I helped in 04) run again for State House in 06 against a Mini Rick Santorum in a 2 to 1 registration disadvantadge PA House district. It's our home district, but we've got a key here - our candidate is a mini-Casey - Pro-Labor (former CWA Local President), Pro-Hunting, Pro-Life Dem who's not afraid to tear it up, but needs a little work on debate skills - like I said, a mini-Casey.
The incumbent has joined lawsuits against someone elsewhere in the state for filing for a marriage license, called homosexuality abnormal, is the co-sponsor of "Right-to-Work" legislation and legislation to eliminate "Fair Share" fees. As a constituent, he's also a horrible rep when it comes to performance for the district - like I said, a mini-Santorum.
The itch here, though, is that although our guy got on the ballot in 2004 after a write in effort in the primary, and spent only $3,500 over four months, he did better than anyone against the incumbent since the 1990s.
Now we're preparing early and the incumbent is already on the attack, replying to our candidate's constant fact-checking of him, and he's attacking the credibility of our guy, saying the election results speak for themselves, and to basically "consider the source".
I've responded in kind, since he's countered within our candidate's no-LTTE time.
I've put in for an ActBlue listing, and we think we could take this guy out - he's not a good rep, and his own party knows it. His own colleagues know it. That's why they want him there. An easy caucus lapdog that takes his pay and goes home.
We're hungry. We can win this fight. This is a shockable, stake to the heart race.
We have a chair (me), a treasurer, a fundraiser and an organizer on board, all volunteer.
