A few days back, I posted
an impeachment scorecard on how the Senate might vote if Shrub were ever impeached. As I mentioned there, it would be pretty close as of now--57 ayes, but 16 maybes.
Now what about the House? By my count, impeachment would pass, but barely--222 ayes, 190 noes and 23 maybes.
As with the Senate scorecard, I assume that all Dems will vote to impeach.
Optimistic, you say? Well, quite a few of these are moderate Repubs in blue districts or moderate-to-conservative Repubs with (gasp!) a spine and some integrity.
The scorecard is after the jump.
Alabama (5): Ha ha ha!
Alaska (1): Don Young may be a shill for development, but is somewhat reasonable by Repub standards (ACU lifetime rating: 77). Not reasonable enough to impeach, though.
Arizona (6): Jim Kolbe will almost certainly vote aye. Jeff Flake is a possible aye.
Arkansas (1): John Boozman is a lost cause.
California (20): Mary Bono for sure, and maybe Bill Thomas.
Colorado (4): Maybe Joel Hefley. The others are lost causes.
Connecticut (3): Shrub gets deserted by all three Repubs here.
Delaware (1): Mike Castle's a lock to vote aye.
Florida (17): Ginny Brown-Waite for sure, and maybe Illena Ros-Lethinen. Forget about the others--though I wouldn't be too surprised if Katherine Harris planted a shiv in Shrub's back.
Georgia (7): Ha ha ha!
Idaho (2): Here's where it gets interesting. Two of the most relentlessly conservative members of the House--and both could vote aye. Butch Otter for sure, Mike Simpson is less certain.
Illinois (9): Mark Kirk, Judy Biggert and Tim Johnson for sure. Maybe Ray LaHood.
Indiana (6): Mark Souder maybe. The others? Don't ask.
Kentucky (5): Ha ha ha!
Louisiana (5): Ha ha ha!
Maryland (2): Maybe Wayne Gilchrest. Roscoe Bartlett? Please.
Michigan (10): Fred Upton and Joe Schwarz definitely. Maybe Vern Ehlers.
Minnesota (4): Maybe Jim Ramstad. Forget about the others--MN Kossacks, what did you do to get saddled with the likes of Kline, Kennedy and Gutknecht?
Mississippi (2): Ha ha ha!
Missouri (5): Ha ha ha!
Montana (1): Denny Rehberg will vote no--and probably end his political career with that vote.
Nebraska (3): Maybe Tom Osborne--a sad commentary that once you get past him and Chuck Hagel, the bottom drops out with the Nebraska Repubs.
Nevada (2): Ha ha ha!
New Hampshire (2): Charlie Bass definitely. Possibly Jeb Bradley.
New Jersey (6): Jim Saxton and Rodney Frelinghuysen definitely. Maybe Chris Smith and Frank LoBiondo as well.
New York (9): Sherry Boehlert and Jim Walsh for sure. Maybe John McHugh.
North Carolina (7): My home state. Walter "Freedom Fries" Jones, Jr. is definitely talking like an aye. Forget about the others--including my congresswoman, Sue Myrick.
Ohio (11): Maybe Steve LaTourette and Ralph Regula.
Oklahoma (3): Ha ha ha!
Oregon (1): Forget about Greg Walden.
Pennsylvania (11): Charlie Dent for sure. Maybe Phil English and Curt Weldon.
South Carolina (5): Ha ha ha!
Tennessee (4): Jimmy Duncan maybe--but even though he's one of the few Repubs with a spine, that's a big maybe.
Texas (21): Maybe Ron Paul--sadly, he's the best of the Texas Repub lot, and that's a bad sign for the future.
Utah (2): Ha ha ha!
Virginia (8): Maybe Frank Wolf and Tom Davis.
Wisconsin (4): Maybe Tom Petri.
Wyoming (1): Ha ha ha!
