While it is much too soon to tell what's up with Alito, I'm just as shocked as everyone else by the curveball he pitched. But to hear that Old Man Robertson was blowing a gasket on TV just gives me near-orgasmic pleasure.

Of course there is nothing worse for Fundies and their Republican Jesus then to have righteous vengeance denied. Make no mistake; it is fairly consequential that his very first decision smacked the American Taliban in their collective faces. Do I dare even think it? Could it be that the American Taliban got snookered? Could you imagine if this were true? It might very well send them crying back to their churches, never to be heard from again! punishment more excruciating then to have 8 more years of that "immoral" Slick Willy and his "uppity" wife in the Whitehouse. I was wrong. I think Alito turning out to be an unapologetic leftist would be something 100 times better than that. Even FDR, when he was trying to pack the court with liberals, got screwed over by a few. I'm under no illusion, however, that this decision says anything definitive. By virtue of Occam's Razor, this could be simply written off as Catholic activism. Yes folks, there
really are hardcore conservative Catholics who are vehemently against the death penalty. It's going to be interesting to see exactly who this Sam Alito
really is (but I'm not going to hold my breath). It reminds me of a theory I once had on how I would go about getting on the high court if I was a liberal activist who wanted to do that. However, I'll save that for another entry.
