Like a worn out shoe that you just can't seem to get rid of because it is just so darn comfortable, the right wingnuttery of this country have now brought out the old tried and true voter fraud of multiple votes by a single person.
Sheesh, the ignorance of these people really does deserve nothing but consistent mockery, I mean simple basic math that even third or 4th graders can perform can easily debunk the affect of this type of voter fraud if in deed it ever really happened, which of course, as we all know, it is simply nothing more than a fantasy belonging of wonderland proportions.
But that's fine, lets just take them at their word and see how this whole thing really would play out, what it would take to play it out and what affect it would actually have.
So lets all pretend that our new favorite new media figure "Joe the Plumber" is pissed about a possible Obama presidency and has a secret plan to commit voter fraud by voting numerous times, and lets run the scenario below the fold.
Ok so the stage is set, Obama is looking like he's going to win and I'm "Joe the Plumber" and I am going to commit voter fraud, a federal offense that will land me in prison, by voting multiple times.
So, lets see, how am I going to go about this. First I have to get multiple registration forms and fill them all out, and for this I am going to need several residences matching the names I plan on voting under that are strategically placed in separate poll assignments so that I am not seen voting twice in the same polling place.
But hey, I'm a good friend of John McCain's and just so happen to have 7 different residences. Of course, I will also need identification in the names of those extra registrations, the residences I use will all have to be associated with those names and of course various matching databases in the state will also have to pretty much all line up with the registrations I have sent in.
But lets assume that I do indeed have all of the above, 7 different residences, seven different identifications and everything is looking pretty good for ole Joe to go and vote several times under false identification.
Hey, wait a damn minute, this plan ain't going to work, I'm just one Joe and I need a lot more of me.
So how many more? 10, 20, 30, 100, 500, 1000?
What happens if we could actually get 1000 people in every single state to all somehow meet, and conspire to commit voter fraud in violation of federal law risking prison time?
Well, now were talking about 7000 voter registration cards, 7000 residences, 7000 false identifications in each state.
Taking that nationally, would require 50,000 people all in on the fraud involving 350,000 residences and 350,000 false identifications.
And guess what, that only equals 350,000 votes, or .002% of the total out of 130,000,000 votes, hardly enough to even make a difference in any single state.
So as anyone who has any amount of reasoning capability can see, it is mathematically impossible to affect the outcome even if you had 50,000 people, or 1000 people per state all in on the conspiracy.
Of course in this diary, I have even assumed that the best case scenario that all 50k of those folks would actually vote 7 times, which is implausible to say the least.
I mean seriously, this stuff is not hard to figure out if you even think about it a little bit, that the right wing noise machine can get away with it is just astonishing...
