Today, the myth of Bush being a popular president officially died. It was in a persistent vegatative state for months now, with some trying to pull the plug on this lie, and the Republican Congress putting the case in Federal Court. Well, the autopsy has been released, and though Bill Frist may not like it, Bush is an unpopular president.
Today the New York Times has a new poll that shows 42% job approval. His highest mark is on the War on Terrorism, but on that, he only gets 52%. At this point in their terms, Clinton and Reagan were both at around 60%, that is broad popular support, not just the crazy base that is still clinging on to Bush.
So, when the right- wing media claims that the Democrats are trying to defame this "popular president" during a "popular war", just show them the numbers. Nobody supports the President's agenda. His Social Security plan has 25% approval!!!
November 2006 should be a good time.
